What’s Holding Back the Mobile App Development Industry?

Mobile app development has dominated the world of tech as of late. But the industry is facing some setbacks that it may never recover from, and a lot of people think it’s because there’s not enough developers. Our web developer team at ezineArticles can attest that this sentiment is true; they’ve seen a huge lack of talent in recent years. It’s alarming, and it doesn’t seem like we’re going to see relief any time soon.

So what’s the deal? Why is the mobile app development industry suffering from a deficit of developers? In order to find out, we have to look back at how it all got started. Back in 2008, Apple introduced the iPhone App Store. It was a completely different concept for mobile devices that had many people excited about mobile app development.

The store became extremely popular and quickly picked up steam as more and more developers rushed to create new apps for it. This is where we first saw the shortage of developers come into play; there simply weren’t enough on hand to support all of these new app developments that were flooding the market. The next step was Android, which brought another pool of developers into the mobile app development world.

Although we did see some growth with this introduction, it wasn’t quite enough to smooth over the lack of developers in the market. There simply weren’t enough skilled individuals to fill all of these roles, and this has been a problem since the beginning. This is what caused the lack of talent that we have seen over the past few years.

So where does that leave us? Is the mobile app development industry doomed? Will it ever be able to recover from this deficit? The truth is … probably not. It’s been four years since Apple introduced its App Store and six years since Android came out with theirs.

The apps that are out there, the software that is available to us, all of it came from these initial developers. And they were somewhat responsible for the shortage of developers in their time. They had to work through the platform’s initial bugs and wrinkles, so they couldn’t really focus on much else.

Now that everything has settled down a bit and most of the issues have been ironed out, these developers have moved on to other positions or other industries. We may see some new development from them in the future, but most likely not.

We always knew this day would come, which is why we made sure our web developer team built EZA an app from the beginning. Now that it’s here, we can assure you that it will be a great tool for our clients to use. If you have any questions about our app, feel free to discuss it in the comments section below!
